The Seattle-based Hot Tub Boat Company has come up with an idea that means you can take a dip anytime, irrespective of the water temperature and weather conditions. The Hot Tub Boats are available for rent any day of the week and the steamy 104 degree water is just perfect. The boat can accommodate up to six persons while underway, and eight at dockside. The boat is fifteen feet in length and has a run time of ten hours. So choose your friends wisely; you’ll be quite close to one another.
Other features include African Teak decks, a waterproof stereo with pop-up speakers, four deck-mounted ice chests, fore and aft storage compartments, and 12-volt navigation lights. It has a 24-volt, joystick operated drive system that allows anyone to drive it—while sitting in pure relaxation. It is battery monitored, and comes with a Smart-Plug shore power connection. There is no need to have a boaters’ education card to drive, rent or own this dream machine.
While you can purchase the boats anywhere, their weekday and weekend rentals are currently only in Seattle, which run Monday-Thursday at $139 an hour—with time slots going from 2-4 hours; however, if you’re going to do a weekend rental (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), it’ll cost you $159 per hour.
There are some restrictions on how far you can go hot tub boating, as they are yet to be proven sea-worthy, but certainly within the confines of Lake Union, they look set to be a major hit with locals and travelers alike. The boats are carefully designed and meet the stringent U.S. Federal Regulations for Boat Builders. As a result, Hot Tub Boats are also in conformance with the European Recreational Craft Directive and are looking forward to receiving the CE Mark soon.
