Vaishno Devi is one of the most sacred temples of the Hindus. The journey to the place begins from Katra and the pilgrims have to cover a terrain of 13 kilometres on foot. However, those who have a problem in climbing up can hire a pony or a palanquin. The many stops on the climb up the track are Ban Ganga, Charan Paduka, Adhkuwari, Himkoti and Sanjhichhat where you can halt for rest, a cup of tea and some religious merit. After a visit to the main temple, the pilgrims head towards the Bhairon Ghati, another temple of religious importance. Avoid travelling during weekends, monsoons and the week during Navratra.
