Andhra Pradesh is one of the four states that make up South India and it stands out because of its fine mix of culture, art and food. There are some incredible treasures of art and architecture as depicted by the state’s extensive number of temples and monuments. Andhra cuisine too has a lot of takers. Hyderabad especially scores in this department and is renowned for its non-veg cuisines, especially the Hyderabadi Biryani. The state offers some daunting terrains which backpackers must negotiate if they wish to explore the complete geographical diversity of the place. But it is not a big ask, since the rewards which lie at the end of the tunnel are pretty worthwhile. One of the most visited places in the country is Andhra's temple town of Tirupati. The town houses the richest temple in the world and is toured by pilgrims from all over the country. Many come here believing they can wash off their sins, many come to offer homage or to pray to Lord Venkateswara, and many fly in to witness the grandeur of the temples & their rituals. While Tirupati is the chief town in the southern part of the state, Central Andhra Pradesh boasts of Hyderabad, the state's marquee city. Hyderabad’s monuments reflect Mughal art and one must visit the old part of the city to get a feel of the history of the city. Warangal lies just a stone’s throw away and is another must-visit town noted for its famed Warangal Fort and a heritage Shiva Temple. Andhra Pradesh is India’s ‘rice bowl’ and tourists are likely to be greeted with lush paddy fields on the outskirts. Major sightseeing attractions include Tirumala Temple, Mecca Masjid, Charminar, Golconda Fort, Warangal Fort and Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary.
