A short ferry ride away from Singapore, Bintan is one of the islands in the Riau archipelago of Indonesia and the place to head to when you've had enough of cities and their crowds. All of the north of the island is referred to as Bintan Resorts and separated from the south by thick forests. It is home to sprawling, plush resorts with miles of secluded beaches and four golf courses. In the south lies the island's capital, Tanjung Pinang, but the only place you'll want to be is on the warm beach sands and in the blue waters.
Bahasa Indonesia and Riau Malay are the two main languages spoken by the locals on the island. English is mostly spoken the Bintan Resorts area.
