Druk Air is the only carrier that flies to Bhutan and is the country’s national carrier as well. From India, cities that are directly connected to Bhutan are Delhi, Kolkata, Gaya, Siliguri and Guwahati. Other direct connections to Bhutan include Bangkok, Dhaka, and Kathmandu. Bagdogra in West Bengal is another entry point into Bhutan by land. Bagdogra has an airport serving the Siliguri area, and from here the Bhutan border is around a four hour drive. The entry point into Bhutan is the small town of Phuentsholing.Buses operate frequently from Kolkata to Phuentsholing. From Siliguri as well, buses ply to Phuentsholing and Jaigaon.The only way to get around the country is by road, as there is no rail or air network. Buses and cars are the general modes of transport here. Taxis and cars on hire are easily available.
