At over 10,000 ft. Ladakh has one of the highest airports in the world situated at Leh, the Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport. Daily flights ply to Leh from Delhi, Srinagar and Jammu. The flight duration from Delhi is around 1 hour 15 mins. The flight to Leh flies between several mountain peaks and offers a stunning view of deep valleys below.
Buses ply to Leh via two routes- Manali and Srinagar. The roads are only open from June to October owing to snow fall during the remaining period. The distance from Manali to Leh is 473 km, and is usually covered with an overnight halt at Keylong. Tourists from Delhi and other lower regions usually take this route. From Srinagar, the distance to Leh is 434 km, and is covered overnight. Cabs ply daily through both routes too.
