You can fly into Mainland Mauritius' only airport, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. The two domestic airlines, Air Mauritius and Catovair, both connect mainland Mauritius with the island of Rodrigues. Air Mauritius also offers helicopter tours from the airport and a number of major hotels.

Getting Around

By Bus Navigating across the island in a bus is not just easy and reliable but will also save you a fair amount of money. But opt for express buses because standard buses have way too many stops and can take forever to get you to your destination. Long-distance buses run from around 6am to 6.30pm, though there is a late service between Port Louis and Curepipe until 11pm. By Taxi There are scores of taxi drivers trying to catch the fancy of tourists around Port Louis or Grand Baie. But before settling for a taxi, there a few things one should keep in mind. Meters are rarely used so negotiate a price before starting out on the journey or chances are that you could get ripped for a short distance. To get an idea of what's a good price take help from your hotel staff. By Car and Motorcycle The simplest and of course the fastest way to get around Mauritius is to hire a car or bike. It's not the cheapest, but you should be able to negotiate a discount if you are renting for a week or more. But driving around potholed roads can be just a bit of a challenge.
