Another indispensible destination in a trip to North India is Rajasthan, with its rich Rajput culture, art, and a violent history of bravado, annexations and battles, both internal and colonial, evidences of which are there for all to see at the forts and palaces of Jaipur and Udaipur. Himachal Pradesh is another abode of scenic beauty and, its capital Shimla, a picturesque hill station, is absolutely the jewel on its crown. Varanasi, with its huge importance as a pilgrim site and the view of Ganges is also a must-go place.
