Pelling Tourism & Travel Guide - Know Before you Go!

Pelling Overview

A pretty, picturesque town in West Sikkim, Pelling is about 10 kilometres from Geyzing, the district headquarters. With alpine vegetation and several gurgling waterfalls plunging down the green hillsides, this place promises to take your breath away with its beauty. Situated at a height of 6,800 feet, Pelling offers travellers an up-close-and-personal view of the Kanchenjunga peak as well as other mountains like Dom, Kumbhakarna and Kotang. Because of its proximity to the mountains, Pelling is also a base camp for trekkers, who scale the snow-peaked heights for pleasure and pride. It’s a floral haven with clumps of marigolds, magnolias, orchids and rhododendrons painting the hillsides in a flurry of colours. Inhabited by simple folk, most of who are Buddhists and speak the local Sikkimese dialect, Pelling is the place to be in, if you want to enjoy a peaceful holiday, and spend time close to nature. With several serene monasteries, picturesque picnic spots as well as hiking trails and trekking opportunities, Pelling offers you a chance to unwind or indulge in some adventure.
