The old walled town has been declared a UNESCO Heritage Site. This hilltop settlement has been occupied and fortified by the Phoenicians, the Romans and the Carthaginians in the past. Architectural influences of all three occupants can be seen here. Walk around the old city and enjoy breathtaking views.
This necropolis is a massive ground with over 400 tombs, dating back to the 7th century BC. The cemetery of what was the first Punic city on Ibiza contains Phoenician and Carthaginian burial caverns. These burial caverns, or ‘hypogea’, are underground chambers carved deep into the hill and can be entered via well-like passage ways. There is a museum here as well, housing a collection of objects like amulets and figurines found in the necropolis.
The salt fields at the southern tip of the island have existed for over 2000 years. Sparkly white salt residues are left behind when the water evaporates in the hot summer months. Catch the sun’s rays reflecting off the glimmering white and capture some exotic photographs here.
Descend into these underground taverns illuminated with spectacular yellow-gold lights. Take a multilingual tour, look at the stalactite and stalagmite formations and enjoy the music and light show.
Ibiza has many unique museums- contemporary art, archaeological and monographic, amongst others. Artefacts from Phoenician and Carthaginian periods are housed at the Museu Arqueologic. The Aquario Cap Blanc is a natural cave aquarium with many species of marine life.
The heart of the island makes a picturesque location for this centuries-old freshwater spring. Surrounded by olive groves, with gorgeous views of the sea and countryside, this ideal location provides many a photo-op.
In Ibiza, you’re never far from a beach. With over 80 beaches, each offering something different, you’re spoilt for choice. Loud, populous, “party-beaches” or quiet, peaceful and uninhabited- Ibiza has it all. Playa den Bossa - Get a piece of the party-life at one of Ibiza’s biggest, loudest and most crowded beaches with over 50 bars serving up snacks and drinks. Ses Salinas: Relaxing waves and cool water make for a great afternoon on this beach. Three bars on one end provide refreshments. Cala Boix: Special for its dark, almost black sands. This picturesque little beach is enclosed by cliffs and popular with the locals because of the fish dishes available here. Cala Benirras: 10 minutes from San Miguel, a beautiful drive through hills and valleys brings you to Benirras, a tiny bay surrounded by green hills. Pebbly sands and crystal clear waters make it a popular tourist beach, as do the performers every night. Musicians, fire breathers, circus acts and jugglers are common here. Experience the drumming as the sun goes down, a unique experience in Ibiza.
