It is a city famous as a pilgrimage destination and is home to a number of Dravidian style temples, including the Lord Venkateshwara temple, which is one of the most protected shrines in the world. Besides its temples, Tirupati is also famous for the Swami Pushkarni Lake, the deer park and its numerous gardens. The city is one of the state’s major industrial hubs and is famous for its wooden toys and brass and copper idols.
Telugu is the official language of the city. The locals also speak Tamil and English.
