Around 5 hours away from Kathmandu lies the Royal Chitwan National Park. Abundant in various species of flora and fauna, this is an ideal two to three day getaway from Kathmandu. Enjoy time with your family and children as there are activities for everybody. Elephant rides, bird watching, local cultural dances, a jungle safari, a canoe ride along the river and a village tour are all on offer. Accommodation is available in the form of rustic lodges.

Pokhara

200km west of Kathmandu lies the beautiful Pokhara valley, Nepal’s adventure capital. Flanked on one side by a massive wall of the Himalayas and dominated by the towering peak of Mount Machhapuchhare, Pokhara is the starting point of most treks in Nepal. The town has beautiful lakes like the Phewa and Rupa, a two-storied pagoda at the Barahi temple, the river Seti Gandaki running through the city and a lovely waterfall as well.

Mount Everest (Base Camp)

For lovers of the outdoors, the Everest Base Camp Trek is a must do. Nepal is known the world over as the abode of the mighty Mount Everest, and the trek to the base camp is something to boast about. The duration of the trek can last anywhere between 10-15 days, and offers magnificent views of the Himalayas, dotted with quaint Sherpa settlements. The trek starts from Lukla (a half hour flight from Kathmandu) and proceeds through the Khumbu region of Nepal.
