Valencia Overview

Valencia played holiday home to more than five million overseas visitors last year. Most come here to relax and unwind in the resort township on Valencia's thin coastal strip, lazing on the beach by day and partying like an animal at night are a way of life here. To the north, along the Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast), is a string of low-key resorts, plus the historic site of Sagunto. Southwards along the Costa Blanca (White Coast) stretch some of Spain's finest beaches. While the city contains many monuments, Valencia's modern crown jewel is the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, a futuristic complex of museums, cinemas, theaters, and more.

Local Language

The two official languages spoken in the city are Valencian and Spanish. Due to political and demographic pressures in the past, the predominant language is Spanish, but Valencian is taught and spoken in most of the surrounding metropolitan area and province of Valencia.
