Legoland Discovery Center

Kids and Lego enthusiasts of all ages will be enthralled by this indoor Lego factory and amusement park. Watch how real Lego bricks are made, design your own creation, take a ride on the Miniland Berlin (a themed ride) and watch a 4-D movie. A great way to spend the day with the kids.

Berlin Zoos

Berlin has a number of zoos with a wide species of animals. The Berlin Zoo has the largest range of species in the world and is especially known for its Panda bears. It is situated in the city center and is a great family destination. The Tierpark Berlin is one of Europe’s largest zoos and also houses a large snake park. The Zoologischer Garten is the oldest zoo in Germany, with more than 14000 creatures that live in a beautiful landscape. This zoo also hosts an aquarium.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp:

About an hour’s drive from Berlin is the infamous concentration camp at Sachsenhausen. The camp is well maintained, and you can walk through the barracks where inmates were detained during the war. Memories haunt the corridors of the prison barracks, the isolation cells and torture facilities. You can also see the gas chambers and the Death March memorial. A small shop stocks books and pamphlets about concentration camps and the Nazi era.

Picnic at Grunewald

Berlin’s largest forested area, Grunewald is easily accessible via S-bahn and a great way to get away from the bustle of the city. Take a picnic basket along and explore the woods by foot, bicycle or on horseback. Sit by the clear water of the Schlachtensee and Wannsee, the nearest of the forest’s several freshwater lakes. Teufelsberg, a man-made hill rising above the woodland, was constructed after World War II and is visible from here.
