A Papal state located within the city, the Vatican is the seat of the Pope and a religious centre for Catholics. It is the smallest state in the world, dotted with architectural delights. Walk through the Vatican Gardens, the Vatican Museum and take in the beauty of the Sistine Chapel. St. Peter’s Basilica and Castel Sant Angelo are sights worth seeing.
Travelling with kids? Make a trip to Via dell’Industria for a day at the Luna Park in the EUR quarter. An amusement park popular with kids of all ages, they can ride on the roller coaster or the Ferris wheel. For younger kids, head to Gianicolo park, high on Janiculum hill. Pony rides, puppet shows, bumper cars and a great view of the city below.
