Being in the hills, the climate in Meghalaya is always cool and pleasant. Rain is common here throughout the year and monsoons bring torrential downpours upon the state. Summer extends from May to September, and this is the rainiest period as well. Days are warm and sunny, with temperatures not exceeding 28°C, but nights are always cool in these parts. October and November are the autumn months, when the temperature is markedly cooler. December to February are the winter months, with temperatures falling to freezing point and below quite often. Winters here are cold and severe.
