Munich is located near the Alps and therefore, it is likely to rain here often. Thunderstorms also appear out of the blue so make sure you carry an umbrella. The range of temperatures between day and night or summer and winter can be quite huge. Munich experiences very chilly winters, and heavy rainfall is rare in the winter. The coldest it gets is on average -2°C, January being the coldest month of the year. It’s fairly warm between May and August, with average temperature of 19° C in July, which is the hottest month.
The best time to go would be spring or summer. The city gets very busy during Oktoberfest, which takes place during the last two weeks of September.
