The weather in Turkey varies greatly with the region and landscape. The capital, Ankara, and other regions in the Anatolian Highlands experience bitter, snowy winters from November to April, with temperatures often touching freezing point. During summer the average temperature is around 17ºC. Istanbul has a temperate climate with hot, humid summers and cold, wet winters. Snowfall is common between December and March. The Aegean and Mediterranean coastal areas enjoy typical Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters.
