The Hippy Markets are curious places- local handicrafts, exotic jewellery, curios, and people from all over the world. Ibiza’s artistic roots go back to the early 60s, when they had a strong hippie culture. This is still preserved in the markets here- with live music, performers and painters to be found in abundance. Punta Arabi market at Es Cana and Las Dalias at San Carlos are the most popular ones. Enjoy live mime acts and Moroccan tea tents, get tattooed and pierced, shop till you drop, and just soak in the rich culture of Ibiza.
Santa Eulalia has a host of local shops offering souvenirs, beach wear, clothes and more. Torrent Fondo has a unique selection of gifts and toys. If you want to take back beach and basket bags, head to Zona. For locally made pottery and souvenirs, take your pick at Can Toni Sendic.
If fashion is never far from your mind, Ibiza is the place for you. Every corner has a clothing store- whether designer or local. Virginia, in Santa Eulalia, offers classy day and evening wear. Ibiza Town has many trendy boutiques that stay upon until midnight during the summer. Natura offers handmade clothing while Holala! Offers 50s style vintage clothing. Harvey Musin and El Parral (in San Antonio) are popular stores.
Fresh produce is laid out on certain days of the week, making these markets a lifeline for local Ibizans. The colourful vegetables, range of seafood, variety of flowers and noise of the market make it a unique local experience. Food shops are also very popular in Ibiza, stocking up on local specialties like olives, peppers and spicy sausage. Also a must try are the Ibiza pastry (ensaimada) and the wine.
