Bandhavgarh National Park India is a natural and well-preserved green corner where, if you are lucky, you can catch a shot of a straying tiger. Situated in the heart of Madhya Pradesh in the central region of the country, this park is smaller than most parks and is fairly remote. Despite its unfriendly location, it tops the bucket list of the wildlife enthusiasts since this park enjoys the highest population density of the big cats. So, if you are hell bent of sighting a tiger, then there is a strong likelihood that you would be able to fulfill your dreams in this rugged hilly nook. How to reach Bandhavgarh National Park: Bandhavgarh National Park is slightly difficult to access, though not altogether challenging. If you are traveling by train, then you would need to get down at Umaria (the nearest railway station) from where you can reach the park via a car in 45 minutes. The nearest airport is the one in Jabalpur. If you prefer to fly, then look for a flight to Jabalpur (available from Delhi) and take a car/cab/jeep from there. From Jabalpur, the park could be accessed in around 4-5 hours. Timings: The park stays open from sunrise to sunset. Safari tours are available during the morning and during the afternoon (each tour will be of around 2-3 hour duration). The park stays closed for tourists during the rainy season between July and September. Best time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park: The park is open from October to June. The winter season of December-January receives the maximum footfalls. Though the weather is cool during this time, winter is not a favorable time to spot the tiger. The absence of tigers and the presence of too many humans can actually dampen your experience to an extent. The summer days from April-June offer you the highest chance of sighting a tiger, since most of them walk out of their shelters to beat the heat beside the streams. On the flipside, the tiger won't be the only one feeling the fury of the sun. Other attractions of Bandhavgarh: The priced tiger aside, other main attractions of Bandhavgarh National Park are leopards, deer, jackals, sloth bears and hundreds of birds.
