You already know hundreds of conventional ways to pass your time on a long flight to somewhere, but if not backed by some excitement it might feel like a flight to the end of the world. Especially, if you are one who just can’t keep to one’s seat, left to ogle at the ceiling or slumbering away the time. We have come up with some fun-crazy ways to pass your time on a plane. These might sound weird, but yet sane ways that won’t get you into too much trouble, lest you overdo…
1. A role to play
Try checking your neighbours’ India connection, and if you find none, go ahead and indulge in this little game of role-play. Pretend to be a celebrity chef, or a singer or a rising star and share your success stories and recipes. This sure will keep you engaged for hours and give you a chance to have an air about yourself, up in the air.
2. Did you know you had psychic abilities?
If you always believed you had, this is the time to test them. Strain your mind and psychic powers to capture the attention of that pretty girl sitting in the front of the row. Who knows the telepathy might just work. You can also spend time reading prophecies to those interested.
3. Be a photo-enthusiast
Even if you are not a social butterfly, it always makes for a good opportunity to take pictures with people of different nationalities. A picture with the flight attendants, with the cute kid in the back seat, and a few with the clouds right outside the window. In fact, this can be the right time to master the art of taking that perfect selfie.
4. Is your plane made of paper?
Practice the art of origami on some paper you are carrying with you, or better still use the sick bags to fold out some cool paper objects that you can later distribute among the kids on the plane.
5. Get social
Don’t confuse it for the social media that we are hooked to day and night. This calls for using our natural instincts to mingle with co-passengers, eventually finding yourself someone to chat away the time. You can also head up to flight attendants’ lair for some gossip and extra treats to eat.
6. Let the bubble gum be your best friend
If hours-on-end of chatting with the co-passengers is getting you back some stares and annoying looks, then pop a long-lasting gum and chew on it for hours, also blow some bubbles, it’s fun. It will also save you some ear pain, related to variation in altitude and air-pressure.
7. Window shopping
How about deriving some fun out of in-flight shopping? Engage the flight attendant in a conversation by asking him/her to demonstrate the products or asking them for more details. However, just make sure to not to give in to the sales tactics of the attendant and buy everything.
8. Train to be multilingual
What better place to learn different languages, where people of different nationalities are locked inside a cabin in the sky to wander for hours before they are released.
9. Play the love game
We don’t want you to be mean but there’s no harm in trying your luck with the boy/girl in the adjacent row. At least you will get to hone your flirting skills, and if you are in luck you will have an affair to remember. Hope naughty minds are not thinking of joining the mile high club!
10. Fitness freak you
If fitness is your way of life and this is the reason why you can’t contain yourself to the seat for long, then trying some airplane yoga would be a sure shot way to stay busy and beat some stiffness, getting some stares of admiration while you’re at it.
11. Babysit boredom away
It’s the right time to test how you get along with kids. Believe us, it’s not that tricky! Just find a seat next to some good humoured kids and you can read them stories out of books, give them tattoos, hear them out. If this works out well then you will have an amazing time, along with some appreciation from parents.
Do let us know if you’ve tried any crazy things aboard a plane and that worked out well for you. We would like to add those ideas to our list.
