Modesty insists that I should not tell you how well we are picking up as a business, but loyal and (dis)reputable friends shall tell you I was never the reticent sort. ‘Severely deluded’ is the verdict most pass and seem satisfied by.

Back to the story. So yes, since we are growing as a company, it is but logical that our team grows too.  Thus, I sit with my telescope, staring hard into the lens and the horizon, furrowing my brow, waiting for my bird to fly by.

Basically, we are looking out for some nice people to join our team, as writers.

Most people get excited by the profile. It is but assumed that they shall get to travel a lot. Unfortunately, most companies cannot afford sending writers to every single destination in the world they want to create content about.  The few companies that can afford it, prefer spending money on marketing – and it’s a debate that will not have a conclusive result.  From where we stand, we want to send writers and photographers out to destinations, at least domestic ones soon enough, to get a whiff of the air there, a sniff of the earth (I am now trying to sound all content writer-like urf cheesy). And the sending bit will happen, it is but a matter of time.

Till then, what we shall offer is bright yellow walls and an atmosphere to boot.  We shall offer seating where you might have the CEO on one side, and an intern on the other. Hierarchy and strutting around with it, isn’t something we do. We are cool like that.

What you shall get to do for sure is read a lot. About places, about cultures. If lands and places interest you, you might enjoy your job. It isn’t just itineraries or destination travel guides we write. So don’t be surprised if we ask you to prepare a dream itinerary – say, a around-the-world-in-80-days trip a la Phileas Fogg. It might not be a seller, but then not all things are done with money in mind, some are done to just create interest, engage and to be remembered by. Some of us have done a PhD in the laws of attraction, so just be gullible and follow my lead, you little lambs.

Hopefully you like dancing, because Manan and I hate to be the only ones sitting in our seats, blasting the desi-est of Bollywood on youtube and gyrating our bodies to it while doing our work. Most colleagues in office would prefer that the same be done by souls much higher in the attractive index. So, like dancing okay.

So apply people, apply because you like table tennis and because so slow is our table that you can play a point, snooze for a while, take a call, have lunch and then hit the ball as it has just come back to you. Apply people, because sugar prices are rising all over the world and yet Sonu generously adds kilos of the same to each cup of tea. Apply, apply because you love dropping things on the floor and as soon as you do, everyone in office will start quipping “Kaato kaato, salary se paise kaato.” Such solidarity, I tell you. If you are Mallu, Kannadiga, Tamil or Telegu, just apply man. I am tired of these guys thinking I represent all four states.

If you are good with people, witty and have potential to act eloquent, we might even let you conduct a few Delhi Darshan or Heritage Walk Trips. If you are bloody good, and there is a group of travelers wanting a guide to lead them on a trip, that can happen too. The beauty of a start-up remains in its ability to dole out various opportunities to an individual. Come up and tell us that the website should have a new section about Indian road trips, a Quiz section, even a page for travel jokes, and soon it will.

The way we see it, we want to be the best travel website in the country and the most interesting one as well.  Modesty insists that I should not tell you that one day we could, but loyal and (dis)reputable  friends shall always tell you I was never the reticent sort. ‘Severely deluded’  is the verdict most pass and seem satisfied by.

P.S. Apply all right! But be a really good writer. And blow us out of our minds when you come down for an interview.
