With some of us being total gypsies, travelling is living. Seeing the beautiful world out there is one of the best experiences that one can have.
Travelling is great, but along with the beautiful sceneries, you have to make sure that your skin stays beautiful as well. Change in temperature, humidity, junk food, sunlight, water sports, etc. can take a toll on your skin before you know it.
Keeping up with your skin routine while on the road can be a tedious task as you don’t have the comfort and resources available at your home.
But no worries. Here’s a list of some quick tips that will help you keeping your skin healthy during your adventures:
Make-up is a strict NO
Our skin needs to breathe more when we our travelling, than at home or office. Applying make-up will leave your skin dry and rough. Foundations or powders prove to be disasters on road trips. Stick with a normal moisturizer and a lip gloss (if you insist on applying “some” make-up).
Sun block creams
Those who do not like the tan look, getting dark in sunlight can prove to be unpleasant. Always carry sunscreen lotions (that suit your skin) and apply them on all uncovered parts before stepping out in the sun. If you are travelling to beaches and tropical places, keep ample of sun blocks in your bag!
Hydrate
Drink lots and lots of water to keep your skin hydrated. It will also help in checking your tiredness while on road. Also, apply ample moisturizer to avoid dryness and chipping of skin. Washing your face at certain intervals might be a good idea too.
Keep cleansers handy
Skin wipes and cleansers prove to be a quick and efficient way to swipe off the beads of sweat from your face and make you feel refreshed. Exfoliating is a must after a long day out in the sun.
This will prevent your skin from being oily and sticky. In places with high humidity, you can also carry blotting papers or rice papers to dab out the sweat off your skin.
Sanitizer
Hands often get dirty while you are on the road and you must clean them properly before eating, to avoid infections. Hand sanitizers come in handy at this time as soap and water might not be available everytime. Carry at least 2-3 bottles to keep your hands free of germs.
Hands off the face
To avoid breakouts while you are on a vacation, avoid touching your skin while you are travelling. It can result in a number of problems like skin infections, germ transmission or you can pick up bacteria.
Carry an anti-bacterial cream in your vanity bag to avoid these problems.
Power naps
If you are travelling by flight or by train, don’t forget to take your beauty rest! It will be best to apply some super-rich night cream around your eyes before you dose off, so that you don’t have bags and dark circles around your eyes when you wake up.
Protect your lips
Lips are more sensitive to the harmful sunrays than the skin. Avoid burning your lips by always putting thick Vaseline or lip balm that provides sun protection. The sun leaves the lips chapped and cracked, so does chilly areas. A good lip balm is a must in your kit; yes, this applies to all you macho men too.
Feet care
Vacations mean you travel on foot a lot, occasionally bare feet, such as beaches. The heels can get really hard and damaged due to travelling. You should apply foot creams and moisturizers on regular basis, and also remember to wash your feet before sleeping while on vacation.
Spa
After you are back from your holiday, you might feel refreshed, but at the same time feel tired. Visiting a Spa is a great option to forget the after vacation blues. The various therapies offered at spas will make you feel relaxed and get you energized to go back to office and work!
With all the tips mentioned above, your skin will look as fresh as ever with zero damage. At the same time, you don’t want to be a snob and make your vacation all about your skin. Sure it’s important, but you should enjoy your trip as free as a bird and not be too fastidious about your beauty!
Great looking skin or not, don’t forget to pose pretty and click a million holiday memories!
