It’s most popularly known as a honeymoon destination. In fact, one of the first things that Google auto complete will show you are Mauritius package. Well, one can’t really disagree with the fact that these islands off the coast of Africa are quite the perfect honeymoon getaway. But we’re just trying to say that there are so many more things to do in Mauritius even if you’re not one half of a pair of lovey dovey newlyweds. Mauritius has a whole lot of activity for adventure junkies as well. And you can do them with your better half or with a bunch of friends or even by yourself.
Adventure Activities to do in Mauritius
Water Sports
Be amazed by the amazing colours and textures of the underwater marine life by snorkeling or scuba diving in these pristine waters. It’s a whole other world out there. Feel the wind and the water in your hair, take a ride on a water scooter or speedboat. There’s water skiing also for the more daring. You can go sailing on a cruise ship and spot dolphins or go down under for a submarine ride and experience life underwater without getting wet.
Paragliding and Skydiving
Oh, yes indeed! You can jump anywhere in the world, but there’s few places that can match the view in Mauritius. Clear blue water, white sandy beaches and you can literally see the island as a whole. You will get to experience a 10,000ft skydive in Mauritius. It’s a good dose of adrenalin fuelled action. There’s bungee jumping also on offer. Try everything if you’re up for it. But if you had to pick, I’d say dump the bungee jumping and go for the other two.
Blue Safari – the sub scooter
Explore Mauritius’ breathtaking undersea world in a two-seater Sub-Scooter. Sitting comfortably, one behind the other, your head and shoulders are enclosed inside a transparent bubble, whilst the rest of your body is submerged in the water. You will be accompanied by a qualified diver at all times.
Quad-biking
Another adventurous and rather off-beat activity that can try is quad-biking. There are number of natural reserves in Mauritius (like Domaine De l’Etoile, Frederica Reserve Naturelle, Yemen Natural Reserve, Casela Nature Park, etc.,) where you can ride your monstrous four wheels speeding around, flying over bumpy roads and splashing mud on each other.
Walk with the lion
This one is definitely unique. Take a walk with the lions (yes, there are lions in Mauritius) in their natural habitat and watch their behavior at xlose proximity. Of course, all necessary safety precautions are taken to keep as safe as possible. It is available at Mauritius Safari Adventures and Casela Nature and Leisure Park. Apart from walking with the lions, you can also indulge in activities with cheetahs.
You can also go trekking and hiking, go on safari jeep trips, go zip-lining and enjoy the vibrant nightlife. Beyond the Mauritius holiday packages is a lovely island that offers you equal amounts of tranquility and relaxation.
