As reported by the Guangzhou Daily, an unidentified man arrived at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, only to be told that his luggage exceeded the weight limit and he could either pay additional fee for his luggage or do away with some of his belongings. However, he did neither. Instead, he decided to pull out as many as 60 of his shirts and 9 pairs of jeans and put them all on, so that by the end of it he was wearing 70 articles of clothing. All in a bid to avoid the fee that he would have had to pay to the airline in extra baggage charges.
Described by an unnamed passenger as looking like a ‘sumo wrestler’, he then proceeded to board his flight to Nairobi, Kenya. But looking so obviously suspicious, he was stopped by airport security and had to submit to a full body search. Using a metal detector, the security personnel recovered such items as thumb drives, electronic chargers and batteries from his countless pockets. Items that, it appears, he forgot to remove while putting on all his extra clothes. It wasn’t clear if he was allowed to board the plane with all of those clothes on, but one report indicated that he missed his flight due to the delay caused by the security process.
