Mere Paas Bollywood Hai: Studio Tours for B-Town Fans!

Is there anyone who hasn’t ever said to a friend “Yeh haath mujhe de de, Thakur” in mock Gabbar style? Or “Kutte, kamine! Main tera khoon pee jaaonga!”? Or “Jaani, yeh chaaku hai…”? Or or… “Khamosh!”? If you fall in the category, you are either lying (and a black crow will peck at you by evening today), or are not Indian, or have simply led a very sad life. My heart goes out to you, buddy. I might just gift you a Bollywood tour myself.

While our parents blushed for Shammi Kapoor or Sadhna, we grew up lusting after SRK or Madhuri or Katrina…(boss shouts from behind, ‘Mallika Sherawat’). So, what will you do if I tell you that you can actually go and see them shoot? Catch a glimpse into the life behind the silver screen? Walk on the same sets where some of the most iconic Hindi films were shot?

Basanti, tumhara naam kya hai?

Bollywood Tourism has just the right gift for you this summer: structured studio tours. The company has tied up with SJ Studios and Film City to introduce tourists and Bollywood fans to the world of Hindi cinema. We’ve created structured studio tours to show tourists the working of Bollywood […] These tours provide them with an all-inclusive Bollywood feel,” says Manoj Gursahani, Chairman, Bollywood Tourism.

 What they are offering:

  1. Trip to film studios to witness live shoots. – Don’t shout, laugh, cry, get overwhelmed or faint on the set.
  2. Experts will give you an insight into special effects and other post production techniques. – now you will know how Hrithik jumped from the fourteenth floor.
  3. Visit to Bollywood gallery and café.
  4. And the best one! Hold your breath – a ride to star homes! In this one, you are allowed to faint. Or scream.

Tourists can choose from a variety of tour packages. There is a Self-drive Tour where you have access to studios and a special effects guide. The Private Tour includes a ride to star homes. And there’s 2-night stay package called Bollywood Experience for those who just can’t get enough of Bollywood. The company is even offering a school and college field trip option which includes not only all the star attractions, but also a certificate of participation at the end of the trip!

Main hoon Don

Some Bollywood gems you might want to brush up:

  • Chal Dhanno, aaj teri basanti ki izzat ka swaal hai
  • Main tumhare bachche ki er.. maa banne wali hoon
  • Koi baat nahi, Senorita, bade bade deshon main aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hai
  • Mogambo khush hua
  • Arre o Kaalia, kitne aadmi the?
  • Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai
  • Saara shaher mujhe lion ke naam se jaanta hai
  • Rishte mein toh tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hai Shahenshah.
  • Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai
  • Jab yeh dhaai kilo ka haath kisipe padta hain, toh aadmi uthta nahi, uth jaata hai
