Royal Caribbean International is all set to launch the ‘world’s most futuristic and advanced cruise ship’, Quantum of the Seas. It will officially set sail in November this year. Nearing completion at Germany’s Mayer Werft shipyard, the 4180 passenger ship boasts of various hi-tech innovative features. It’s going to have the first skydiving simulator at sea and a glass capsule with a mechanical arm that allows you to rise 300 ft. above the ocean. Apart from that it’ll have robots that will mix your cocktails, an electronic wristband and apps that put everything at passengers’ fingertips. The ground breaking smart technology of this ship will take cruise holidays to a whole new level.
One of the coolest features on the ship is a gadget right out of a sci-fi movie. On boarding the ship all passengers will receive a wristband that serves as a room key. It will also allow the guests to quickly navigate the gigantic vessel and make purchases with a simple tap.
They also offer a pair of downloadable apps that will put guests nothing less than in the captain’s chair. Plan is to make every voyage in the Royal Caribbean most technologically driven holiday in the world. Cruise Planner and Royal iQ apps will allow the guests to research and make restaurant reservations, book shore excursions and spa appointments etc. They will also be able to keep in touch with other passengers on the ship and loved ones at home. With their hi-speed broadband connection that offers fastest internet speeds at sea, the cruisers will be able to browse apps, email and video chat with relatives and friends.
However, the most mind-blowing feature in the ship would be the Bionic Bar. The first of its kind anywhere in the world, the bar would have robots as bartenders! You will place your order on tablets and sit back and watch as the robotic arms do their thing, mixing and serving the cocktail of your choice.
Other Features of Quantum of the Seas
- Two70 is a cavernous space meant for relaxation during the day that transforms into an extravagant venue at night. With a 270 degree view of the aft of the ship this area is also complemented by robotic features
- Interior guest rooms have ‘virtual balconies’ that display real time sights and sounds of the sea through an 80 inch LED screen
- All rooms are equipped with USB outlets
- The ship will have an exclusive ‘SMART’ system that the guests can start using before they start their journey. Passengers can generate boarding documents, upload their security photo and receive digital boarding confirmations
Quantum of the Seas is going to be the biggest and the most advanced ship of the Royal Caribbean built till date. The Miami-based cruise line will launch the debut in New Jersey’s Cape Liberty, sailing from there for six months before heading to its new home port in China.
