For all those who didn’t blink an eye before adding ‘skydiving’ to their bucket list after gaping at the three hotties from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, here’s some respite. You don’t have to wait to make that special trip to Spain to cross this item off your list! The Baramati Skydiving Festival in Maharashtra is a sure shot way of getting your heart racing while up at 10,000 feet high in the sky!

Those who missed the Dhana skydiving festival (the first of its kind in India) in Madhya Pradesh earlier this year, can catch up on the Baramati skydiving camp that starts tomorrow. Says adventure enthusiast Nitesh Jain who skydived for the first time in San Francisco, “It’s great that we have skydiving in India now; had this been launched before I would have made my first jump here with friends.”

Starting from the 10th of December, this camp promises to give you an adrenaline rush that will last a few lifetimes! The Baramati Airport near Pune is the chosen locale for this event, which is expecting to see over 60 participants. The festival will end on the 15th of December. So basically, hurry up.

The Drill

Participants will have to undergo ground training and a medical checkup before hopping on to a Cessna 172 aircraft from which they will jump off the desired height. The range of skydiving experiences on offer includes the solo static line jump from 4000 feet , the tandem jump from around 9000 feet and the accelerated free fall jump from over 10,000 feet. All of this, of course, will be conducted under the supervision of trained professionals.

Price per jump: Rs 20,000

Inclusions:

  • HD photos of the experience
  • Certificate and log book signed by the instructor

What Else?

And if, by any chance, you feel like you’ve had enough of skydiving, there are other adventure activities like para sails, para motor gliders, micro-lights and aeromodeling lined up. Music and food kiosks too are expected to be a part of this skydiving festival which, incidentally, is being organized by Padma Shree awardee and champion skydiver Shital Mahajan in order to popularize adventure sports in the country.

So tuck in your bucket list and take it along to Baramati because you just might want to cross a certain item off that list while you are 10,000 feet above the ground!
